3-8" Riprap

Riprap is widely used to protect shorelines, riverbanks, and coastal areas from erosion caused by waves, currents, and runoff. The large, angular stones create a durable barrier that absorbs and dissipates the energy of the water, helping to prevent soil erosion and loss of land. This product is mostly granite and is often called armour stone. There are different classifications for rip rap, often seen in classes or letter types. Other common uses are streambeds, foundations and bridge abutments.

Type A is a larger heavier stone more suitable for steeper slopes and more severe erosion or embankment control.

Type B is slightly smaller and falls in between.

Type C Riprap is often the smallest seen but the most commonly used product for controlled waterflow.

Class 1 Riprap is the smallest and often a 3-8" or 6-12"

Class 2 Riprap is a 12-24"

Class 3 Riprap is a 24-30", which is basically small boulder or shot rock.
